
Samuel Olivera - Cellist
Born in San Carlos-Chile, he begins his Cello studies in 2001, at the Diego Portales School with Prof. Plinio Vásquez. In 2008 he obtained a scholarship to study at the Conservatory of Music "Laurencia Contreras" in Concepción, where he continued with Prof. Rodrigo Durán. In 2012, starts bis Bachelor degree in the U. of Talca, under the tutelage of Prof. Alejandro Tagle,from which he graduated in 2015 qualified with “Maximum Distinction”. Between 2017 and 2018 he studied at the Pontifical Catholic University together with the german cellist Martin Osten. In 2020 starts his Master's degree at the "Hochschule für Musik und Teather" in Rostock- Germany, with the english cellist Natalie Clein.
Besides, since 2011 he has participated in the project “Teach Teachers Teach” in the Papageno Music School, in Villarrica-Chile, where he took regularly courses with Heidi Litschauer, who until today is a big support.
He has been awarded with scholarships by the Youth Orchestras Foundation in different modalities between 2005 and 2015 and has participated in different festivals all over the world, like the Musical Summer of the Hispano-Dutch Colony, held in Peñafiel-Valladolid, Spain in 2013, then in 2015 was selected at the SummerAcademy at the Mozarteum University, Salzburg, and invited to the MeisterFestival, at the RaabsSchloos, having the opportunity to perform during the Salzburger Festspiele in the Mirabell Palace concert cycle, in Salzburg-Austria. Also during the same year he participates with the Academic's Quartet of the U. of Talca -Chile, as a guest in the Academic Concerts cycle. During the 2017 and 2018 seasons, he actively participates with the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Municipal Theater of Santiago as the main guest.
He obtained the position of Academist at the Konzerthausorchester, Berlin - Germany, for the seasons between 2018-2020, and remains under the guidance of Andreas Timm. During the same season he is summoned for the European tour of the World Orchestra for Peace, together with its titular director Valery Gergiev and the composer and director, Sir Karl Jenkins. He has participated in masterclass with teachers such as Jens Peter Maintz, Walter Schulz, Arturo Muruzábal, Lynn Blakeslee, Annete Schäfer, Marcio Carneiro, Clemence Hagen, Othmar Müller and David Raiser, among others. He has also appeared alongside great directors such as Iván Fischer, Elim Chan, Juraj Valçuha, David Zinmann, Michael Sanderling, Dmitrij Kitajenko, Konstantin Chudowsky, Eliahu Inbal and Christoph Eschenbach, the latter being the new head director of the Konzerthausorchester Berlin, with whom has recorded the Brahms, Mahler and Schostakovich Sinfonies for Deutsche Gramophone.

Samuel uses a violoncello Francesco Ruggieri from 1670, that belongs to H.Litschauer.
